Democracy and Solidarity Summit was held in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the participation of the Presidents of Parliamentary Assemblies and Mr İsmail KAHRAMAN, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Mr Saleem Al- JUBOURI, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq and the President of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Mr Maja GOJKOVIC, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Pedro AGRAMUNT, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr Belal QASEM, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, Mr David-Maria SASSOLI, Vice President of European Parliament, Mr Paolo ALLI, Vice President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Ms Maria MUSSINI, Member of the Parliamentary Assembly-Union for the Mediterranean, Mr Canseyit TÜYMEBAYEV, on behalf of TurkPA term president, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Republic in Ankara and many deputies and representatives of foreign missions participated in the summit.
Mr İsmail KAHRAMAN said: ‘We protected our democracy. Our citizens shielded their bodies without using any armor against plains and heavy weapons, laid down their lives and unfortunately paid a very heavy price for democracy.
During the Summit, Mr KAHRAMAN gave a speech after a cinevision show about coup attempt of Fethullah Gülen Terrorist Organization (FETO). In his speech he stated: We are very happy that our friends are with us with all sincerity today and we are proud to walk shoulder to shoulder in the path towards democracy. Mr KAHRAMAN also said: As we turned democracy, human rights and rule of law to universal values together until today, we, hereafter, must again together defend to leave them for the next generations.
Mr Paulo ALLI, Vice President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, stated that on July 15, the real target was the future of the Turkish democracy. Mr ALLI stated: ‘’We understood what this attempt meant’’ he also commemorated the people who died. Mr ALLI also said that he was very surprised for the courage that Turkish people showed to defend their democracy.
After Mr ALLI’s speech, the representatives of International Parliamentary Assemblies also commemorated the people who died during the coup attempt and said: ‘’We are in solidarity with Turkey.’’
