Speaker Mustafa Şentop had consequent meetings with Esad Kayser, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan and Dariga Nazarbayeva, Speaker of the Senate of Kazakhstan. Şentop indicated the importance attached to the enhancement of interparliamentary dialogue during his meeting with Nazarbayeva and expressed Turkey’s expectation of support from Kazakhstan regarding the fight with FETÖ. Speaker Şentop conveyed his request about transfering FETÖ schools in Kazakhstan to the Turkish Foundation of Education and told that he was expecting their support on this matter.
Afterwards, Şentop had a meeting with Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia. Speaker Şentop expressed that they have maintained closer communication after the establishment of high level joint committee for interparliamentary relations between Russia and Turkey. Şentop emphasized that the European leg of the Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments must be developed, “We must strengthen the European leg of these meetings. It will be beneficial to ensure participation of Europe as well as organizing meetings both in Asia and Europe.”
Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the GNAT had a meeting with Fadli Zon, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia who will be hosting the 5th Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments next year. Trade volume with Indonesia, particularly Turkey’s investments in Indonesia related to defence industry were discussed during the meeting.
Speaker Şentop asked for Indonesia’s support regarding the fight with FETÖ and stated that there are currently 11 schools in Indonesia associated with FETÖ. Mustafa Şentop stated that, “Our securtiy and intelligence units have been exchanging information about this issue. However, I would like to state the fact that the FETÖ structure poses a threat not only to Turkey but also to all the countries in which it conducts its activities.”
Speaker Şentop pointed out the unjust blockade and sanctions of the Arab quartet in Qatar that has been going on for the last 3 years, during his meeting with Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Speaker of the Advisory Council of Qatar.
The Speaker of the GNAT stated that, “We will continue to stand by the brotherly people of Qatar against the unjust blockade and sanctions imposed on Qatar by the Arab quartet for the last 3 years. Trials in the Middle East, especially in the gulf show that we must deepen our cooperation. We want the increasing current tension in the gulf to be decreased as soon as possible. We see the security of the gulf as a whole and we believe that stability in the region can be ensured through cooperation between the countries in the region.”
