Highlights from the statements of the Speaker of Parliament Mustafa Şentop are as follows:
"We are experiencing the worst and greatest epidemic of world and human history. No doubt, there have been great epidemics before. But there is no epidemic that spreads so fast and affects so many people. And yet we are still in it. We do not have a clear knowledge of how it will evolve and when it will come to an end. I would like to remind especially our citizens and our nation to comply with the measures taken. Of course, we will get through this process all together. But a little patience and maximum attention is required in this process.”
“THERE IS NO POSITIVE CASE BETWEEN OUR DEPUTIES”
“Our Assembly has worked without interruption for the last 10 days. Finally we have enacted them. At the end of this intense process, some of our deputies who required personally were also tested on their complaints. There are no positive cases detected at the end of this process, there are no positive cases among our deputies. Among our staff, 6 of them were tested. We also have friends who have recovered later on. At the moment, we have not encountered a painful case in total among our deputies and our Assembly staff.
We have shown in many periods of history that we are a nation that has agreed on the main goals especially in difficult times. We need to remember that today. The 100th year has such a message to us. Under these conditions, we thought, what can we do together as Turkey. On the evening of April 23, we will not be able to hold a large reception, but instead, on April 23, at 21:00, we had an invitation to sing our National Anthem together. I see that this proposal is welcomed. The National Anthem is our basic value that unites us. It is among the immutable articles of the Constitution. I had invited to sing our National Anthem all together at the same time with the same excitement and the same feeling. I repeat my invitation again.
I plan to join our citizens from the gardens of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. I hope we will experience such an excitement together. This is not enough but I think it is an important event in the current situation.”
