Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of GNAT, stated in his social media account:
"French President Macron’s repeated criticism of Turkey at regular intervals consists of not understanding the new balances of the world and consists of irrational claims arising from nostalgia of colonialism. Moreover these claims damage to the deep-rooted historical relations between Turkey and France.
Turkey's initiative in Libya is based on international law and regional peace purposes. If Macron cares about peace in Libya as he claims, he must stop dragging the region into chaos by supporting the putschist Hafter and realize that this support will be fruitless.
Macron is considered to be unsuccessful by his citizens in most cases but especially in the combat against the global pandemic and his attempts to change the agenda by opposing to Turkey is the manifestation of his political weakness. What Macron should do is to understand Turkey’s position accurately and act accordingly.
