SPEAKER ŞENTOP’S "HITLER" RESPONSE TO MACRON

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the GNAT responded to the President of France Emmanuel Macron’s statements towards Turkey by sharing a piece of his speech which he gave at the opening ceremony of the Museum of Vexilology and Turkish Flags of Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir where he used the metaphor "Hitler-France". 10.09.2020

Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the GNAT stated in his sharing through his social media account that "It is reading history from reverse by simulating Turkey as the Nazi Germany. If we are to simulate this mindset which has an eye for other countries’ lands to anyone, it should be Macron and France in the East Mediterranean."

"WHAT IS FRANCE SEARCHING FOR IN THE EAST MEDITERRANEAN? ISN’T THIS SIMILAR TO WHAT HITLER DID?"

"Macron is making an analogy to Turkey by Nazist Germany. It is weird, he is trying to read history from reverse. What was the main issue with Nazist Germany, back then Germany, Nazist Germany was not content with its borders. They were not content with the rights and authorities granted to them by the international law. They had eyes for other countries’ lands, rights and interests. That is why they attacked everywhere. So what is France looking for in the East Mediterranean today? Is it its own country’s lands, its own marine space or its economic region? No, it’s not. Isn’t this similar to what Hitler did? Operating in other countries’ fields of rights and interests. Isn’t Hitler’s main issue and problem stealing other countries’ rights and preventing them from exercising those rights? Then, if we are to make a connection with the Nazi approach and Hitler, we need to look at the extents of France’s expansionist, neo colonialist mentality."
