MEETING OF PROF. ŞENTOP, SPEAKER OF THE GNAT, WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF NGOs FROM GERMANY

Prof. Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the GNAT, met with Mr. Zafer Sırakaya, MP of İstanbul from AK Party and Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs; Mr. Abdullah Eren, Head of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) along with representatives of NGOs from Germany. 28.04.2021

Pointing out  that 2021 is the 60th anniversary of the Turkey-Germany Labor Force Agreement, Mr. Şentop said that 60 years ago, nearly 3 million people, 1.5 million of whom had German citizenship, who traveled from Anatolia to Germany for employment, will be replaced by the fourth generation.

Mr. Şentop emphasized that these people are the richness of Turkey, which is not granted to every nation in the world, and stated that this situation increases the responsibility of Turkey and that they believe that wherever a citizen in the world experiences hardship, it is their  responsibility to be there with all their means.

He stated that  that everyone who is affectionate to Turkey is equally valuable to them. Within this context,  they have taken steps to facilitate the lives of Turkish citizens in Germany and will continue to do so, and added that , "At this point, you, who take the pulse of the Turks in Europe,   are supposed to  try to resolve  the difficulties if any  being in constructive dialogue and cooperation with our official authorities.  We are  always at your disposal with our respected MPs.

Stating that NGOs follow Turkey closely, Şentop continued her words as follows;

It is essential that we stand upright against the actions targeting our country, our flag, our citizens and state property, and act in unity within the framework of the law and order. You should always be in contact with national and local politicians and opinion leaders, and actively participate in the political, economic and socio-cultural life of the country in which you live. It is your responsibility to inform the public in the countries where you live, by making extensive use of modern media opportunities. I consider that it is  quite significant  that you encourage the Turks in Germany to obtain  stronger positions in many fields particularly politics and economy and you guide them in coordination and good harmony.
