As a result of the initiative of the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) issued a statement condemning Israel's violence and persecution of Palestinian Muslims.
The statement dated May 8, 2021, made by PUIC on the attacks of Israel against Al-aqsa Mosque, with the initiative of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, is as follows:
"The oppressive policies of Israel in Jerusalem during the holy month of Ramadan and the attempts to prevent the freedom of worship of the Palestinian people have gained a new and extremely dire dimension with the attacks on the worshippers Al-aqsa mosque on the night of May 7. We strongly condemn the injuries of many Palestinian civilians as a result of the excessive use of force by the Israeli security forces in the Harem-i Sharif, the joint holy place of the three heavenly religions.
We call on the Israeli security forces to refrain from intervening in the Harem-i Sharif and the congregation here, so that the current tension does not escalate further on the Night of Power, which will be realized in East Jerusalem tonight."
