Şentop attended the Salat Al Eid in Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque performed by Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, President of Religious Affairs.
Şentop stated to journalists that the first Salat Al Eid was performed in Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque after 87 years, "The first Salat Al Eid was performed in October 1453. We have performed the Salat Al Eid here again, after 568 years. I’d like to congratulate our august nation on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr. May God grant us health and welfare. I especially congratulate our health care workers."
Şentop told that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been no real feasts, "Therefore, we have restraints. We are realizing yet another Eid Al-Fitr during a closure period. We are unable to embrace our loved ones or congratulate them personally. We hope and pray that this would be our last feast in such a difficult way. We hope to spend the upcoming Eid Al-Adha with our loved ones, families and relatives just like we did before."
