Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the GNAT had a meeting with Aleksa Becic, Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro. December 23, 2021

Speaker Şentop and the accompanying delegation were welcomed by Becic, Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro with an official ceremony.

The ceremony began with singing of both countries’ national anthems, Şentop greeted Military Honor Troops.

After the welcoming ceremony, Şentop and Becic had a tete a tete.

At the tete a tete, Şentop told that this region and Montenegro have a special place for him since his origins come from the Balkans and he was once the Chairman of Turkey-Montenegro Interparliamentary Friendship Group.

Şentop indicated that he wishes to reinforce friendship ties with Montenegro through this visit and stressed that Turkey wishes peace and stability to prevail in the Balkans.

Şentop expressed his belief in the advancement of relations between the two countries thanks to this visit and meetings and told that they have observed Turkish investors’ deep interest in Montenegro especially within the past few years and that they wish to enhance good relations between the two countries through strong economic and trade ties.

Şentop pointed out that they attach utmost importance to development of relations between the two countries’ parliaments and told that he believes that the cooperation protocol signed within this context would carry interparliamentary relations further.

After the meeting, Şentop and Becic signed the Memorial Book of the Assembly and the Protocol on Cooperation Between the GNAT and the Parliament of Montenegro.

After the signing ceremony, they presided the meeting held between delegations.

Şentop is expected to meet with Montenegrin President Milo Cukanovic and Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic.
