During a press conference, H.E. Mr Cemil ÇİÇEK, stated that the legislative and scrutiny activities of the Assembly had come to an end until the 25th Legislative Term and at the end of every legislative term an evaluation meeting was held.
H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK declared that during the 24th Legislative Term, the Assembly had done efficient works in terms of legislative activities. H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK said that out of 772 government bills, 383 had become law and out of 2.828 private members’ bills 333 had become law.
H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK pointed out that during the 24th Legislative Term 8.635 oral motions of questions were submitted and from these questions 2.134 were answered.
H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK declared that there had been a major increase in motions of written questions, out of 68.784 motions of written questions 13.970 were answered in their period and 24.771 were answered after their period and significant part of them remained unanswered.
H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK stated that during the 24th Legislative Term 35.290 applications were made to the Petition Committee and 1.445.137 persons signed these applications. H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK also said that out of 302 applications from 25 different countries, most of them were from Germany.
H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK pointed out that there had been 7.594 applications were made to the Human Rights Inquiry Committee and 46 reports were published within this period. H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK said that the Committee followed closely the problems of Turkish origin citizens and the citizens who lived abroad including the crimes committed in Germany.
H.E. Mr ÇİÇEK also stated that the Committee on Equal Opportunity for Women and Man also carried out important studies regarding gender discrimination and added that 86 personal applications were made to the Committee.
