The Functions of the Government

Since Turkey has passed to the presidential system of government from parliamentary form of government recently, the functions of executive power in the legislative process has changed considerably. In this respect, when the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure are examined, the function of the government in the legislative process can be listed as follows;

  • The Central Government Budget Bill and the Final Account Bill are submitted to the GNAT by the President of the Republic.
  • Laws adopted by the Plenary are sent to the President of the Republic for approval.
  • Memorial of using armed forces abroad and memorial of ratification of international treaties are sent by the President of the Republic to the GNAT for approval.
